We loved the guidebooks by Charles Tait so much, and they’re not easily findable here in the USA, so we decided to import them and sell them ourselves.

A comprehensive guide to the natural history, archaeology, history and culture of Dorset. All of the main sites of interest, visitor attractions and nature reserves, as well as hundreds of less visited, but no less attractive places are covered.

Above all it is a guide to the exploration of an exceedingly diverse, yet unspoilt, county. 1,215 illustrations, most by the author. A few have been sourced from other nature photographers, while Ordnance Survey 1:250,000 maps are used throughout. Old photographs, maps and prints add colour to the text.

Introduction covers Natural History of Dorset, including Geology, Habitats, Birds, Fauna, Flora and Insects; Archaeology and History from a Dorset perspective. The detailed Gazetteer surveys the whole county by administrative area.

This is followed by a comprehensive cross-referenced list of Places to Visit and 17 suggested Itineraries. A full Bibliography is followed by an extended Index.

384 full-color pages.
